Dogs and cats may keep me busy, but I’m also an exotic pet photographer in Denver who genuinely loves it when something a little different arrives at my Bennett studio. Scales, feathers, claws or shells, if you love it, I would be honored to photograph it. Exotic pets deserve beautiful portraits just as much as any dog or cat, and far too few photographers know how to do them justice.

The Exotic pets I love to photograph
Over the years I’ve pointed my camera at all sorts, and the more unusual the better. Here’s a taste of who’s welcome in front of my lens:
Reptiles and amphibians. Snakes, bearded dragons, geckos, tortoises and frogs make for genuinely striking portraits. Their colors, patterns and textures are extraordinary up close, and a clean studio backdrop lets all that detail shine.
Small mammals. Rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, rats and hamsters are full of charm and far more photogenic than people expect. These little ones are often the most loved members of the family, and they deserve their moment too.
Invertebrates and the truly unusual… Tarantulas, stick insects, snails and anything else that makes most people raise an eyebrow. If you have something rare, I would genuinely relish the challenge.
Whatever your pet, my approach is the same: patient, calm, and built entirely around keeping them safe and comfortable. I take the time to understand how your animal behaves, work at their pace, and never put them under any stress for the sake of a photo.
