No two dogs photograph the same way, and that’s the fun of it. I work with every breed, age and temperament, from eight-week-old puppies having their very first portrait taken to grey-muzzled seniors who deserve one beautiful photo on the wall. Some dogs are calm and dignified the moment they sit for the camera, others bring all their energy into the studio, and I love capturing both, the soulful poses and the big goofy character shots, against a clean, simple backdrop that keeps all the focus on your dog.
If you have more than one dog, bring them all. Group portraits take a little extra patience and a few well-timed treats, but they’re some of the most rewarding photos I take. And if your dog is nervous, reactive or simply convinced the camera is out to get them, that’s genuinely no problem. I never rush a session, and some of my best-loved images have come from the wrigglers and the worriers.
