Frequently asked questions

Can you photograph pets with medical conditions or disabilities?

Absolutely. Pets with medical conditions, disabilities, or mobility challenges deserve to be celebrated just as much as any other pet, and sessions can be tailored to their individual needs. The comfort, safety, and well-being of your pet always come first. We work at your pet’s pace, allowing plenty of time for breaks and adapting poses, locations, and activities to suit their abilities. Whether your pet uses a wheelchair, has limited mobility, is visually or hearing impaired, or is managing a chronic health condition, we’ll create a relaxed experience that minimizes stress.

My dog never sits still - can you still get great photos?

Yes! In fact, most dogs don’t sit perfectly still for an entire session, and that’s completely normal. Professional pet photography is about working with your dog’s natural personality and energy, not expecting perfect obedience. We use a combination of patience, treats, toys, sounds, and fast camera techniques to capture sharp, beautiful images, even of active or playful dogs. Some of the most memorable photos come from candid moments

Do you photograph other pets besides dogs and cats?

Yes! While dogs and cats are the most common subjects, I also photograph a variety of other pets, including birds, invertebrates, and some reptiles.
Every species has its own unique personality and needs, so sessions are tailored to ensure your pet’s comfort and safety. Whether it’s a colorful parrot, a fascinating tarantula, a stick insect, or a well-handled reptile, I’d love to discuss how we can create beautiful images that showcase what makes your pet special.

Can multiple pets be photographed together?

Absolutely! Multiple pets can be included in the same photography session, whether they’re lifelong companions, siblings, or part of a larger furry family. Every pet has a different personality, so we’ll take the time to help them feel comfortable and capture both group portraits and individual photos. Don’t worry if they don’t all sit perfectly still or look at the camera at the same time – professional pet photography often involves a little patience, creative positioning, and some editing magic to create beautiful images.

Should I bring treats or toys?

Yes, definitely! Bringing your pet’s favorite treats and toys can make a big difference during the session. They help keep your pet engaged, reward good behavior, and can be used to capture those alert expressions and head tilts that make for great photographs. If your pet has a favorite toy, bringing it along can help them feel more comfortable and relaxed in a new environment. Treats are especially useful for maintaining focus and encouraging your pet to interact with the camera.

What if my pet is sick on the day of the session?

Your pet’s health and well-being always come first. If your pet is unwell on the day of your session, please let me know as soon as possible and we’ll reschedule for a later date when they’re feeling better.

Do I own the copyright to the photos?

As the photographer, I retain the copyright to all images created during your session. However, you’ll receive a personal-use license that allows you to download, print, share, and display your photos for your own non-commercial use. This means you’re welcome to post your images on social media, create prints for your home, and share them with family and friends. The images may not be sold, altered significantly, entered into competitions, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission. If you require commercial usage rights, please get in touch to discuss your specific needs and licensing options. Copyright and usage terms will be clearly outlined in your photography agreement before your session

Happy humans, happier pets

What my clients say

Real clients – real reviews from google and facebook

We had such a great experience with Dondra! She was amazing with our dog and made the whole photo shoot feel fun and stress-free. You can tell she genuinely loves animals, and our dog took to her straight away.

She captured some really creative and unique photos that perfectly show Jazz’s personality. Jazz had a brilliant time, and you can see that happiness and excitement in the pictures.

I would 100% recommend Dondra to anyone looking for a pet photographer. Her love for animals goes far beyond just the usual pets, and her photography does too.

Nancy H

The pictures I received are fantastic, I couldn’t be happier! I Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and our pup seemed to as well. I can only highly recommend Pet Pawtography. Really really pleased.

Norma J

Our photo shoot was amazing. Would highly recommend.

Wilma M

Dondra was absolutely amazing! My Spaniel is very hyperactive and struggles to sit still, yet she still managed to capture some incredible photos of him.

She was also brilliant with my Pomeranians, who can be quite nervous, but they felt so comfortable around her that they absolutely loved posing. In fact, one of them even abandoned the backdrop and went straight over to sit on Dondra’s lap!

She’s a genuine animal lover, and it really shows in the way she connects with the dogs. I couldn’t be happier with the photos and would highly recommend Pet Pawtography.
